Waxing FAQ's

Welcome to Soul Ease a personal spa experience in Boise, Idaho, where your comfort, skin health, and confidence are our top priorities. Here’s everything you need to know before and after your waxing service.

Is waxing painful?
Most clients find waxing to be a quick and tolerable experience. You may feel a brief sting as the hair is removed, but it fades quickly. We use high-quality Cirepil hard and soft waxes and expert techniques to ensure your comfort throughout your treatment.

What kind of wax do you use?
We use Cirepil professional wax, both hard wax (gentle for sensitive areas) and soft strip wax (ideal for larger body areas), selected to suit your skin type and the area being waxed.

How long should my hair be before waxing?
For optimal results, your hair should be at least 1/4 inch long (about the length of a grain of rice), which typically means 2–6 weeks of growth. Avoid shaving between appointments, as it disrupts the hair growth cycle.

How should I prepare for my waxing appointment?

  • Avoid sunbathing or tanning minimum of 72 hours before your appointment

  • Refrain from physical exertion, hot showers, saunas, swimming, or hot tubs beforehand

  • Do not apply lotions, oils, or self-tanners to the area on the day of your appointment

  • Wear loose, breathable clothing to minimize irritation afterward

  • Gently exfoliate the area 1–2 days before to help lift trapped hairs

  • For bikini waxing, avoid wearing panties to bed afterward for best results

How should I care for my skin after my waxing appointment?

  • To help prevent ingrown hairs, gently exfoliate once a week

  • Moisturize daily

  • Don't pick at any ingrown hairs

  • Wear loose breathable clothing to minimize irritation afterward

  • Don't wear an underwear after intimate area waxing

  • Refrain from physical exertion, hot showers, saunas, swimming, or hot tubs afterward

  • Avoid sunbathing or tanning beds afterward

What should I avoid after my waxing appointment?
For the next 24–72 hours, we recommend avoiding:

  • Sun exposure and tanning beds

  • Physical activities that cause sweating

  • Hot showers, steam rooms, saunas, or soaking in water

  • Tight or friction-causing clothing

  • Scented lotions, exfoliants, or irritating skincare products

Can I get waxed while on my period?
While Yes, you can be waxed in certain areas. Just be aware that your skin may be more sensitive during this time. We recommend you wait until after you are 1 week after your period for any bikini waxing.

Are there any health or skincare products that affect waxing?
Yes. We do not want to perform waxing on clients who:

  • Are currently taking Accutane (must be off it for 12 months)

  • Have used prescription antibiotics or acne medications within the last 4 weeks

  • Are currently using Retin-A, Retinol and retinol derivatives, AHAs, BHAs, or exfoliating products—please stop using them at least 72 hours, preferably 1 week, prior to waxing

*Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you’re unsure whether your medication or skincare products may cause sensitivity.

How long will my waxing results last?
You’ll should enjoy smooth, hair-free skin for about 3 to 5 weeks, depending on your natural hair growth cycle. Regular waxing helps reduce regrowth and makes the hair finer and more sparse over time.

How often should I get waxed?
For best results, we recommend booking waxing appointments every 4 to 6 weeks. Staying on a regular schedule helps you maintain smooth skin and can make future waxing easier and less sensitive.

Is waxing hair removal permanent?

No. Waxing is a temporary removal of hair by pulling hair out from the root. Ideally with regular waxing appointments your hair can growth become slower and the hair become weaker and less thick.

Tinting, Lift & Lamination FAQ's

Lash Lifting and Brow Lamination is perming of the eyelashes and eyebrows. Maintaining your results will require regular visits every 8 weeks to perm your eyelashes and/or eyebrows, or until your lashes/brows are straight again.

Tinting is the temporary dying of your eyelashes and/or eye brows to give a fuller more look to the lashes and brows.

With a few simple care instructions you will be on your way to enjoying your lashes/brows. To increase the longevity of your lashes/brows, it is advised to avoid moisture, heat and touching as much as possible.

*Before your appointment*

  • If you use waterproof mascara, avoid using it 2-3 days before your first appointment. The film it leaves on your lashes may prevent the lift solution from processing correctly.

  • Arrive to your appointment with dry, clean lashes and makeup-free eyes.

  • Remove contact lenses before your appointment.

  • During the initial 24-48 hours after your appointment

  • Do not get your lashes wet for 24 hours after the lash lift. It will affect the efficacy and longevity of the lash lift.

  • Avoid steam from showers, facials, stovetops, saunas and swimming pools etc.

  • Avoid getting moisture around the eye area when washing face, showering etc.

  • Avoid tanning beds for 48 hours after lash lift

  • Avoid facials, waxing or laser treatments around the eyes for 48 hours after lash lift

*General guidelines to extend the life of your lashes*

  • Avoid using oil-based skincare and makeup products around the eye, including mascara and makeup remover.

  • Avoid waterproof mascara. If you can, it is better not to use any mascara at all. You may find you don’t even need it!

  • Avoid rubbing your eyes or lashes, especially when washing your face. It is recommended to clean around the eye area with a washcloth or cotton swab (Q-tip).

  • Avoid using an eyelash curler. One of the benefits of lash lifts is the ability to add curl to your lashes. If you would like more curl, please speak to your technician to determine if this is possible/a good option.

  • Sleep on your back the first 24-48 hours to avoid the risk of lashes rubbing against your pillow so the shape and curl of the lash lift isn’t compromised

  • Gently brush your lashes with a lash spoolie wand to groom them. The best time to do this is after showering

  • Avoid pulling your lashes

  • If you experience any pain, redness or irritation during or after your lash lift, contact your technician immediately.

Sugaring Hair Removal FAQ's

What is sugaring?
Sugaring is a natural method of hair removal that uses a paste made of sugar, water, and lemon juice. It gently lifts hair from the root without sticking to live skin cells — making it ideal for sensitive skin.

How is sugaring different from waxing?
Unlike wax, sugaring paste is applied at body temperature and removed in the direction of hair growth, which helps reduce breakage, ingrown hairs, and irritation. Plus, it’s 100% natural and water-soluble!

Is sugaring painful?
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but most clients find sugaring less painful than waxing. It’s gentle on the skin and many describe the experience as quick and very manageable.

What areas can be sugared?
At Soul Ease, we offer sugaring for:

  • Brows lip, chin

  • Underarms and arms

  • Legs

  • Bikini, slim line bikini, Brazilian (intimate areas)

  • Stomach, chest, back, and full body.

If you’re not sure what’s right for you, just ask — we’re here to help!

How long does my hair need to be for sugaring?
Ideally, your hair should be at least 1/8" long — about the size of a grain of rice. If you’ve recently shaved, we recommend waiting 2 to 6 weeks before your sugaring appointment.

How long do the results last?
Smooth skin can last 2 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle and consistency with sugaring. The more regularly you sugar, the finer and sparser your hair can grow over time.

Can I get sugared while pregnant?
Yes! Sugaring is a great option during pregnancy because it’s natural and gentle on the skin. Just let your esthetician know you’re expecting so we can ensure your comfort. You may find your skin feels more sensitive to hair removal during pregnancy.

What should I do before my appointment?
Exfoliate gently 48 hours before your appointment and come with clean, lotion-free skin. Avoid sun exposure, hot tubs, or saunas right before your treatment.

How often should I get sugaring?
We recommend every 4–6 weeks for most areas to maintain smooth results. Regular visits help reduce discomfort and make future appointments even easier.
